Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer Manager to support our location in Plaquemine, LA.

 

About you

Our Process Engineer Manager will serve as a technology associate supporting the technology center or as a discipline lead. You will have a solid understanding of the discipline's technical fundamentals and Global Project Methodology (GPM), discipline work process and its interdependencies, demonstrate leadership and deliver engineering expertise to the execution of Dow’s capital and expense projects. Typically, you also have experience in all project phases (Definition, Design, Construction, and Start Up).

 

In the technology associate capacity, you will lead technical problem solving in a specific technology or business unit area to deliver value for Dow. You will be recognized within the discipline and geography for their expertise and participates in global teams. It will be important to leverage technical know-how and implement best practice applications within an area of expertise of a discipline themselves and by providing technical coaching, consulting, and support for others within the site and region. As our Process Engineer Manager, you should demonstrate strong technical knowledge and skills across a range of the discipline’s technology areas. You can show technical leadership skills, including negotiation skills, assertiveness, flexible and adaptable to changing business needs.

 

In the discipline lead capacity, you coordinate the discipline engineering activities of the project and will direct and administer discipline activities with external contractors/suppliers as required. Lead the coordination with the global discipline technical experts to ensure MET is applied and/or variances are indicated and worked through in a timely manner. The successful candidate has worked in role within GPM or equivalent project execution work processes and has detailed understanding of the deliverables for process engineering discipline. Typically, this role is the most senior lead for site executed projects or manages significantly large projects regionally and/or globally. It requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines.

 

In technology associate capacity:

  • Provide technical support, coaching and consulting for project teams, operations, maintenance, and other technology centers.
  • Identify and develop both technology and work process enhancements which deliver value.
  • Support the implementation of discipline technology strategy and provides input/feedback on the strategy in specific area of expertise.
  • Serve as site or regional technology focal point, providing timely technical reviews and input to complex designs and/or any variances from MET on capital projects or in support of maintenance/operations.


In discipline lead capacity:

  • Apply Global Project Methodology (GPM) and Process Engineering Work Process Discipline.
  • Provide overall planning/scheduling for discipline and monitors/maintains progress against the plan.
  • Direct the activities of the discipline members of the project team and coordinate activities with other disciplines.
  • Ensure discipline design deliverables meet the needs of the project including functioning as intended, on time and within budget.
  • Ensure that the process design is safe, meet DOW LPP’s and other EH&S requirements.
  • Identify technical problems and appropriately engage the business technology center and technical experts to resolve.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering required.
  • Minimum of 8 years in Process Engineering required.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

 

Your preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

 

Your skills, knowledge, and abilities include:

  • Being proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrating competencies in the areas of: leadership, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Ensuring a safe work environment by working safely and, complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
  • Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment.
