Objectives:

Conducts product development work in the laboratory and supports the PD Managers to effectively run R&D projects that support the BASF innovation pipeline to meet the current and future PU foam system business needs for Asia-Pacific region.

Main Tasks:

• Reports directly to the PD Manager 
• Handles work packages in projects and topics under the guidance from the PD Manager 
• Responsible for the lab development and machine validation in projects and topic, documentation & result analysis and short reports 
• Supports the project manager for pilot and customer trials and upscaling if necessary                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     
• Designs the work plan under the guidance from the PD Manager
• Actively gains understanding of the BASF innovation process and participate in the ideation/opportunity finding process under the guidance of the PD Manager                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             
• Builds knowledge of the lab equipment, techniques and evaluation methods and shares with the relevant partners 
• Actively builds and maintains the technical know-how in the assigned working area, current product development and IP status
• Builds contacts with other technical functions like other PD units, related technical service and research through active exchange   
• Responsible for ensuring the occupational, health and environment safety in the assigned working area in compliance with BASF and local country regulations under the supervision of the PD Manager
• Reviews the working instructions, maintenance procedures and operation related risks regularly and initiates necessary measures under the supervision of the PD Manager
• Compliance with the cost regulations and strong alignment with the PD Manager

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor with 2-4 years or Master with 0-2 years’ experience
• Technical & Professional Knowledge: Chemistry or related fields, Presentation, IT skills, Scientific literature
• Good written and spoken English; Chinese/German is a definite plus
