R&D Manager (m/f/d)

Within start-up-like structures, we provide services to our customers in the automotive, aerospace and consumer goods sectors in a dynamic market. The business is built on materials, system solutions, components and services in the 3D printing sector and we work closely with global research platforms as well as BASF application technicians and cooperate with research institutes, universities, startups and industrial partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In your function as R&D Manager you creatively and strategically source and develop new materials to support business needs. You will apply expertise in polymer science, organic chemistry, photochemistry and polymer technologies to develop and formulate photopolymer compositions for use in 3D printers. This position is located at our location in Frontonas / France and will work closely with our R&D teams in USA and Asia.

• Identify the appropriate material properties which provide solutions for customer requirements while expanding our resin library.
• Builds-upon and develops structure-property relationships between resin components and final properties of a fully polymerized and postprocessed polymeric material.
• Represent R&D in the product development process - aiding to set project goals and achievements and responsible for R&D prioritization.
• Bild strong cross-functional relationships with Product Management and Application Team.
• Prepare R&D documentation and reporting by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information.
• Working closely with Operation team to create robust products that can be manufactured consistently in appropriate cost and quality targets.

QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or other related fields
• several years in a Leadership Role as well as project and professional work experience
• experience developing materials for 3D printing, especially photopolymers
• experienced in handling chemicals, research management, research planning & control and deep knowledge in processes in research/operational laboratories
• profound knowledge of preparative chemistry is desirable as well as effective communication in English
• team player, intercultural orientation, determination and a high level of innovation orientation
• good communication skills in French and English - please submit all application documents in English
