The semi-conductor technologies group has an opening for an Automation & Process Control Engineer in our DuPont Electronic Materials business located in Marlborough, MA. The Process Engineer provides technical expertise in one or more technology areas and recognized as a leader in that technology. Leads teams to upgrade processes and products that may range from incremental improvements to major technology changes. Develops improved process instrumentation and control strategies, process safety, yields, plant capacity and uptime performance. May serve in a Process Safety Management critical role. Mentors other engineers/chemists and assists in operations training.
This position is aligned to the Litho/APT business and reports to the Marlboro Manufacturing Technology (MT) Leader.
Identifying new process control improvement opportunities at various site manufacturing processes
Support Capital / Improvement Projects with process control support on the DCS and Delta V systems. Be able to troubleshoot issues that affect capital project execution. Be available for calls on off hours if problems arise.
Train new employees on use of tools and automation
Provide proficiency in Emerson Delta V Programing and OPC Communications. Knowledgeable on PLC Programming, HMI configuration, Data Historian (Aspen IP21 or OSI PI) and MODBUS TCP Communications.
Assure plant level improvements align with the Plant Specific Technology Plan, thereby closing local performance gaps and increasing our manufacturing capability.
Assist in building the Plant Specific Technology Plan & global technology plans
Work with the MT leader to ensure implementation of Business-supported projects as identified in the Plant Specific Technology Plan
Understand the manufacturing process and data analysis to troubleshoot existing (or develop new) automation and process control applications, implementing and commissioning these applications.
Become an expert in applying process modeling and process automation simulation to assist manufacturing engineers and projects to solve complex engineering problems. The process automation simulation work will include designing and deploying software for testing of process automation logic versus a realistic process model and for providing operator training for new processes, large process control system migrations, and existing processes where operator training provides a significant advantage.
Assist in managing Asset Utilization and project budgets
Meet Dupont’s Manufacturing safety requirements. Use of PPE – personal protective equipment, adherence of Dupont safety standards and processes
Leverage DuPont subject matter experts
Typically support an annual capital spending budget of $10MM/yr
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering
3 + years of experience in design, development, and implementation of process automation solutions. Demonstrated knowledge of chemical process requirements and experience with standard process control methods
Experience in the writing of functional requirement documents for process automation projects. Skills in programming or configuration of DCS and Delta V systems
