Provides process, materials, and/or equipment engineering technical expertise in a technology area to manufacturing operations to maintain production performance or restore process capability when the product or standard process is no longer safe, stable, predictable or in control. Develops improved process instrumentation and control strategies, process safety, yields, capacity and uptime performance. Serves as first response to plant technical issues and assists in trouble shooting process or equipment issues.


The job change to EHS specialist is planned after training for about half year at Compounding plant.


Primary Objectives

Lead all EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) activities in Mobility & Materials, Performance Materials Compounding Operations and Technical Service at Utsunomiya site.

Expect to comply with Japanese regulation and DuPont safety standards including related US regulation, global standard such as ISO etc.

Collaborate with global M&M EHS organization and carry out the effective and efficient EHS activities to protect all people’s safety and health in the site.

This assignment will be taken after assignment at Compounding operation Manufacturing Technology for training purpose with certain period.



Key Accountability


As Site EHS specialist at Utsunomiya

  • Has the responsibility for responsibility code, especially people safety, occupational health, machine safety, distribution safety and laboratory safety.

  • Communicate closely with site leader for EHS improvement at the site.

  • Communicate closely with M&M EHS core competency leaders in global

  • Improve site EHS members’ competency and capability for their future career

  • Develop and manage Site Sustainable program

  • Create and update EHS Site Rule and procedures in accordance with Japanese regulatory and DuPont EHS standards

  • Implement new and refresh training for site personnel in accordance with site rules. Etc.)  First day training of new comer at the site, Safety training for contractors, ergonomics training, etc.

  • Lead incident investigation in site and follow CAPA (Corrective Action Preventive Action)

  • Lead EHS management system approach improvement.

  • Manage internal and external audits related to EHS.



Specific competencies required



  • MS/BA degree or equivalent is preferable

  • Operation experience more than 5 years.

  • Good communication skill in oral and written manners for shop employee, contractors in Japanese

  • Good communication skill in oral and written manners - including reading and writing in English

  • Ability / or a developing competence in the following:

    • Conduct EHS activity together with site EHS members and other group members.

    • Initiative and self-motivation

    • Accuracy and attention to detail

    • Professionalism

    • Proactivity, creativity and innovation

    • Computer literate

    • Logical, methodical and analytical thought processes 

    • Technical problem solving skills including RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis)

    • Planning, time management, organizational skills and influencing skills

    • Demonstrate ability to effectively develop process/program improvement opportunities across functional and regional boundaries

  • Preferable local licenses
    Safety manager (安全管理者)
    Health supervisor (衛生管理者)
    Fire protection manager(防火管理者)
    Hazardous materials handler(消防法危険物取扱者)
