Our site uses the industry’s most advanced technology and directly employs over 1000 people. We produce a diverse array of contact lenses using our highly automated production process. We have over 38 sophisticated production lines manufacturing over 8 million contact lenses a day, which are shipped to customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

− Provide technical expertise, using established trouble shooting techniques, to solve complex process related manufacturing issues.

− Manages large scope process improvement projects aimed at improving product quality and efficiency.

− Support and develop close collaboration between associates in Engineering functions, R&D, Operations, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Planning, Strategic Sourcing, etc.

− Development of key strategic relationships with other J&J sites, to facilitate cross site sharing of ideas

− Be a role model by setting the appropriate norms and behavioral traits for all members of the process engineering team

− Act as a mentor / coach to assist talent development within the group.

− Develop effective lean project management tools and methodologies to facilitate successful project management implementation

− Provide project management governance support in delivering status updates and planning of activities for projects.

− Manage communication and work commitments with teams external to the core team

− Actively contribute to and participate in the development and implementation of JJVs Engineering strategic objectives.

− Manage day to day deliverables of the engineering function including supporting production requirements.

− Provision of clearly defined responsibilities and objectives for team members.

− Co-ordinate the effective resourcing and management of individual performances to defined objectives.

− Vendor Management For Key Strategic Partners

− Ensure the Process Engineering function conforms to Corporate, Franchise, Statutory, Legislative and Regulatory requirements for GMP, EHS & Quality.

− Identification and adoption of industry trends where appropriate.

  • You will have a minimum qualification of Level 8. B.Sc. or B.Eng. honours degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent, with a proven track record of leading process improvement / NPI projects and / or a team of Engineers. Minimum of ten years experience working in a high volume manufacturing environment.
  • A Masters in Engineering or Business Administration would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of all aspects of complex automated manufacturing processes. You will have the ability to challenge existing paradigms, leading to the delivery of breakthrough process improvement initiatives that are aligned to the strategic business plan for the site. You will be able to think strategically with long term business goals in mind.
  • You have a solid understanding of the manufacturing process as well as an appreciation of machine design and control.
  • You enjoy problem solving and working through complex projects.

  • You have strong project management skills with a track record for delivering projects in time and within budget.
