Senior Chemical Process Engineer Kevlar® Polymer

 

Kevlar® is seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to fill the role as Technology Guardian for the Kevlar® Polymer process. The Technology Guardian is an opportunity for technical leadership within the Manufacturing Technology and Operations groups ​.

 

Technical leadership to the Kevlar® Polymer Production Area includes development and application of technology, management systems, and technology assessments in alignment with tactical and strategic Business Technology Objectives.  This role is the primary technical mentor for the Line of Business (LOB) technology and has a high level of technical acumen.  Responsible for competency development and succession planning.  Participates in Root Cause Investigations.  Documents and communicates learnings to prevent future occurrences.

 

Qualifications:

  • BS Engineering discipline required. Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • 10-15 years of process manufacturing or related experience required
  • Prior experience in polymer synthesis and/or chemical separation processes
  • Process Safety Management (High Hazard Process) experience required

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical expertise and oversight in technology implementation within the Kevlar® Polymer Process
  • Provides technical expertise for Management of Change (MOC), including approval of MOCs as the Technical functional reviewer. 
  • Defines the optimum operating envelope for a product and process and the capabilities of the process technology.
  • Participates in technical Root Cause Investigations (RCIs) for process incidents and near misses.  Ensures learnings are documented and communicated to the organization to prevent future occurrences.
  • Defines Most Competitive Manufacturing Technology (MCMT).
  • Define the competitive standard and sets the benchmark protocols used to assess asset performance.
  • Works with R&D to define and support execution of the Multi-Generational Technology Plan (MGTP).
  • Defines the next generation of process technology in alignment with MGTP.
  • Responsible for supporting technical ladder competency development and succession planning.
  • Accountable for developing and maintaining technical training content for Operations, Manufacturing Technology, Business and Functional leadership.
  • Lead or Participate in Project Reviews.
  • Accountable for the quality of Front-End Loading (FEL) deliverables for capital projects.
  • This role has broad freedom to act, with infrequent managerial direction.   It is an influential leader role.
