JOB SUMMARY

The Process Engineer supports unit performance assurance and optimization, long term improvements and development of studies.

 

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

  • Can provide complex troubleshooting of existing issues within operations.
  • Scope and coordinate strategic investments in operations, cost out and sustainability projects.
  • Provide process “know how” support for the plant upset, complex trouble shooting, shutdown and start-up.
  • Ensure plant process integrity through a well-defined operating envelope.
  • Develop strategies to optimize the process. This includes process and utilities in the area.
  • Ensure compliance.
  • The Process Engineer is Responsible for Strategic and TCO, (Total Cost Out), Projects.
  • Develop the Initiation documentation.
  • Review project problem statement and assure that the “best” resolution is chosen to develop the scope.
  • Develop CDP; (Concept Development Packages); with the applicable support documentation and estimate.
  • Support the PM on the FEED and project execution phases on the projects.
  • Support all CAPEX projects as required for process engineering support and participate as an active stakeholder. This will include, but not be limited to, CDP development, FEED development, FAT, SAT and equipment start-up and commissioning.
  • Manage the communication with the Licensor, Technology and innovation, Manufacturer and Center of Excellence (MCE), other affiliates and vendors. Support technology with process improvement.
  • Mentor other engineers and engage in the development of engineers and technicians.
  • Support new product introduction qualifications and optimizations and new process, technology and equipment introductions.
  • Coordinate implementation in operations.
  • Review design packages for operability, functionality and safety, including participation in PSSR, and make recommendations regarding new process technologies.
  • Actively work with the site to improve the site process safety. Support and implement safety requirements in the process design reviews.
  • Participate in HAZOP, LOPA and other PSM related activities.
  • Knowledge on PSV calculations and OSHA standards as they pertain to PSVs.
  • The Process Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all PSV calculations are completed for the correct process scenarios.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • BS/MS Degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in Petro-Chemical/Chemical Plant Environment with focus on operations, maintenance and capital improvements. 
  • Working knowledge of Process & Production Safety Management.
  • Demonstrated experience with equipment inspection technologies and applications.
  • Working knowledge of Industrial Codes & Standards such as ASME, API, NEC, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement long-term strategies focused on reliability improvement.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Concepts as they apply to manufacturing systems.
  • Demonstrated results working in facilitative environment.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified. Black Belt Certification a strong plus.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
