Your role:

Residing in the Life Science commercial organization and based in the Burlington, Massachusetts M Lab™ Collaboration Center, the Americas MSAT group is part of a worldwide Technical and Scientific Solutions (TSS) team of scientists and engineers that conducts biopharmaceutical process development, scale-up, and manufacturing support activities.  We work closely with our customers and our colleagues across the globe to solve the toughest problems in Life Science.

In addition, leveraging your knowledge in TFF, you will help to solve technical challenges using our industry leading Pellicon® devices in applications such as ultrafiltration concentration, diafiltration, formulation, or single-pass TFF. You will proactively support our customers to optimize and implement TFF operations through consultation or field trials, and you will reactively guide customer troubleshooting efforts when challenges arise. Some of your other responsibilities will include:

  • Process design reviews for TFF and chromatography systems (both single-use and multi-use systems).
  • Hands-on system & control software training at customer sites.
  • Programming automated batch recipes in system control software.
  • Design qualification of single-use assemblies, as well as fit-for-purpose testing in our M Lab pilot facility.
  • Process intermediate and drug product mixing study design and execution
  • Occasional support for commissioning or validation activities in the field. 
  • 10-25% travel   


Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications 


  • Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering or Biotechnology with 5+ years of bioprocessing experience -OR- Master’s of Science in Chemical Engineering or Biotechnology with 4+ years of bioprocessing experience -OR- PhD in Chemical Engineering or Biotechnology with 2+ years of bioprocessing experience
  • 2+ years of experience of engineering fundamentals in fluid dynamics, mass transport, separation principles, and process control
  • 2+ years of experience with downstream purification of biologics in a manufacturing or process development environment, including a knowledge of scale-up, process transfer, and cGMP manufacturing for tangential flow filtration, chromatography, and/or mixing operations


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with multi-use and single-use systems design, operation, validation, and/or control software user interface
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to colleagues and customers using excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience defining process control strategies for process validation following QbD principles and including PAT
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to thrive in an autonomous working environment
  • Demonstrated leadership in complex projects involving diverse groups of stakeholders
