Your Role with us
We are looking for two enthusiastic professionals to join our North West Hub Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) Regulatory team as Installations Officers. One position will work from our Preston or Penrith office and one position will work from our Warrington office, however there is flexibility to work from home in both positions.
Your work will involve regulation of high hazard industrial sites under the COMAH regime across a range of sectors such as chemicals, oil and gas and innovative technologies.
You will seek assurance and compliance with the law that risks associated with major accident hazards to the environment are being properly identified and managed.
You will provide clear communication with site operators where compliance has not been achieved and required actions and measures.
Who we’re looking for
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who have practical Industrial, consultancy or regulatory experience, preferably working in or regulating high hazard industry; who can apply their expertise in a pro-active regulatory role.
Good problem solving, communications, engagement and project management skills are essential. This will be combined with good knowledge and experience of process safety legislation, management principles, standards and techniques.
You will hold an honours degree in a science or engineering discipline combined with chartered status or working towards chartered status with a relevant professional institution. The Environment Agency supports professional development to achieve and maintain chartered status.
