About you

Arup has a fantastic opportunity for a talented Process Engineer to join our VIC/QLD Water team preferably based in Melbourne. Supported by Senior Water Engineers and Specialists, you will work on a range of water infrastructure projects across the Australasia region and deliver quality outcomes. Working across all project phases from helping our clients decide what they should and shouldn’t be doing and how they should be evolving, through to designing and delivering water infrastructure your contribution will be insightful and viable.

You will assist the team in delivering designs for projects, delivering strategic advice, developing business cases and providing technical engineering design input throughout the project lifecycle. You will form strong relationships within project teams, clients and stakeholders alike.

You are a goal focussed engineer with the ability to self-manage and deliver results in a dynamic, demanding and fast paced environment. You will be a motivated, positive, quality focussed team player with the ability to hold your own and support others when required to meet deadlines. You will be looking to be involved in, and actively contribute to, a range of exciting and varied projects, taking ownership for your role in these projects.

Profile for success:

  • Relevant industry experience within the water infrastructure sector and/or a similar consultancy environment preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish effective internal and external stakeholder relationship – seen as a credible advisor and specialist within your sphere of work.
  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in chemical engineering or similar area.
  • Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines, OH&S requirements

About the role

Joining the VIC/QLD Water Team Infrastructure Design team, reporting to VIC/QLD/ACT Water Team Leader you will enhance the teams’ portfolio of skills. Whilst you will not have any direct reports, you will be responsible for coordinating and integrating your work with that of others, and coordinating workload, budgets and responsibilities for complex deliverables with your peers. You will be required to work with minimal supervision in your area of responsibility, and you may be accountable for defined parts of design projects.

  • You will apply your technical engineering knowledge and expertise within the water and allied sectors across a variety of water related projects.
  • Taking a goal focussed approach to planning tasks and activities and drawing on your technical skills, you will recognise, adopt and promote best practice principles in your own work and throughout the wider team.
  • You will be a proactive thinker able to identify issues before they become problems, addressing them effectively in a commercially astute, logical and solutions focussed manner.
  • In establishing and maintaining positive client and wider network relationships you will contribute to the growth and development of projects and advisory services undertaken by the group.
