Due to an increasing number of projects, Stopford have an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join the Projects Group of Stopford.

Your time will primarily be based at our office in Knutsford with occasional visits to Client sites and our offices in Ellesmere Port and Lancaster.

The Role

Reporting to the Projects Group Lead or Lead Process Engineer, Stopford is looking to recruit a Process Engineer to carry out process engineering duties.  These include proposals, projects and occasional consultancy activities, working within agreed time scales and budgets so that the needs of the client are fully met, together with the business needs of the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be capable of acting as Process Engineer to undertake process engineering aspects of the project.
  • Liaise with other Engineers (both process and other disciplines) to obtain and provide necessary information to complete the design and engineering.
  • Support the Lead / Senior Process Engineer as required and deputise on occasions.

 About you

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering and achieved or working towards chartered status
  • Be able to demonstrate process engineering design skills – including developments of PFD’s, Energy & Mass Balance and P&IDs
  • Process hydraulic calculations & process specification of main equipment items (e.g. pumps, tanks, instrumentation, heat exchangers and line sizing)
  • Experience in working in multi-discipline engineering teams
  • Organisational and administrative skills
  • Clear and concise communication in both written and verbal form with excellent people management and interpersonal skills
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK
  • Full UK/EEC driving licence.



  • Experience of risk assessments and regulations, HAZOP, HAZID, COMAH, DSEAR, CDM
  • Experience of working in a similar service industry on multi-disciplined projects
  • Chartered member of IChemE
