This is the role

To support our professional team in Bornem, we are looking for a Process Engineer for A.Schulman Plastics BV, part of the U.S. LyondellBasell group, is a leading international supplier of high-quality polymer compounds and master batches, which are used as raw materials to promote solutions to modern challenges. As Process Engineer you are responsible for monitoring existing and new process techniques in the compounding department. One of the 5 business units within LyondellBasell is Advanced Polymer Solutions. Within this BU, Bornem produces additive concentrates for plastics (master batches) for food packaging, agriculture, etc.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Managing the process part in production;
  • Supervising and process-based optimization of existing formulations, taking into account the predetermined quality in production;
  • Providing support in the implementation of projects related to changes in the compounding process. Creating change requests (MOC) and follow up on procedure adjustments;
  • Introduce new masterbatches in cooperation with the R&D department and determine the process window, screw design and extruder set-up;
  • Ensure that production can be guaranteed in a safe, high-quality and cost-efficient manner. Coordinate the tests and discuss them with the involved stakeholders within the broad organization;
  • Identify, plan, coordinate and implement multi-disciplinary improvement initiatives (Operational Excellence Standards) to achieve corporate objectives;
  • Support production by performing analysis of production issues, in a way that adequate solutions can be identified and secured.

With your critical and responsible mindset, you have an eye for quality and are taking into account the safety regulations within the company as well.

This is what you bring

• Master of Science in industrial sciences;
• At least 3-5 years of experience in production / process engineering;
• Solid knowledge of process development, preferably in compounding;
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing / Green belt is a plus;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office / Outlook, data driven;
• Knowledge of SAP is a plus;
• Strong communication skills, fluent both in Dutch and English.
