Job Description

Wessex Water’s commitment to health and safety has always been our highest priority. We have an opportunity for a DSEAR Compliance Manager who will lead our dangerous substances and explosive atmosphere compliance across the Wessex Water Group.



The role

Operating within a group health and safety structure, you will be the responsible person and recognised company expert in the field of DSEAR, enhancing our existing strategy and driving improvements in our statutory obligations and compliance across the business.


A key part of your role will be to provide technical advice and guidance to our Risk and Compliance, Engineering and Operations departments on DSEAR and associated regulations.


This role provides an opportunity of supporting and further developing our safety processes, risk assessments and culture with DSEAR and associated regulations across Wessex Water’s business operations, while also enhancing our COSHH strategy.


Other duties will include reviewing and acting upon DSEAR and legislative changes such as the storage of hazardous substances.



What are the requirements?

You will work autonomously and be capable of developing credible relationships with senior stakeholders to achieve buy in for change and positively impact our organisation’s culture. Your influencing ability will be pivotal, as you will be advising and guiding the group on DSEAR regulations.


You’ll be degree qualified in Chemical or Process Engineering and have a minimum of five years’ experience in both working in an explosion safety engineering environment and performing DSEAR risk assessments gained in a relevant industry, including the zoning of hazardous areas. You will also be a member of IOSH, ideally at chartered level.


Additionally, you’ll have a proven history of designing and implementing effective systems, processes and solutions to manage the technical requirements required under DSEAR.
