About the department
The Automation Engineer position is located within the Aseptic 4 department, under the FCC (Flexible Cartridge Center) production department. FCC is a high-tech production environment focused on the aseptic filling and freeze-drying of dual-chamber cartridges. Together with the supporting departments, we guarantee that patients worldwide have access to high-quality Genomix, Miniquick, and Caverject medications. Production takes place on a RABS line with a grade B background.
At FCC Support, you'll be part of a young and dynamic team of engineers, supported by an experienced maintenance team. Together, you'll be responsible for the optimal operation of the production equipment and associated automation systems.
Due to the growing demand for our products, FCC is significantly expanding its capacity. As an Automation Engineer, you'll play a key role in this growth: you'll optimize existing processes and installations, implement improvement projects, and guarantee the reliability of our automated systems.
Your job description
You provide operational support in solving automation and software problems on production equipment.
You implement small and large changes to existing automation systems (PLC, HMI, robots, vision) within the Pfizer Puurs standards.
You perform root cause analyses and technical research according to the DMAIC methodology.
You work on validation and documentation activities: change management, test plans, protocols and reports.
You ensure knowledge retention within the team and contribute to a stable, reliable and compliant production environment.
You work closely with Process Engineers, Maintenance and QA to efficiently implement optimizations and new projects.
You support further digitalization and automation within FCC.
What we are looking for in you
Must:
Master's or professional bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical field (industrial engineer in automation, electromechanics, electronics or equivalent through experience).
Extensive knowledge and experience with Siemens Step7.
Knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal.
Ability to work in a structured manner and document carefully according to GDP/GMP principles.
Strong analytical skills and accurate work attitude.
Good oral and written communication in Dutch and English is necessary to perform the position.
You are communicative, flexible, eager to learn and take initiative.
You can work independently as well as in a team.
Nice to have:
Notions of ABB robotics.
Notions of vision systems (COGNEX, KEYENCE, OMRON,…).
Notions of motion control.
Experience in a GMP environment.
Knowledge of validation and change management.
Experience with aseptic equipment or pharmaceutical production.
Interested in digitalization and integration of industrial automation.
