Chief Technology Officer
As Chief Technology Officer reporting to their US-based CEO, as global and site technology lead and a member of the Calysta executive team, you’ll be functionally responsible for the global, multi-functional engineering team, standards, site and pilot plant operations and quality control.
With specific responsibility for process development and technology scale up. Operating predominantly remotely from corporate headquarters, your key accountability will be to deliver Calysta’s strategic objectives through functional management of global engineering and technology resources, including operations and administration within the Teesside pilot and laboratory facility.
Responsible for maintaining an excellent Health & Safety focused operations, HR, budgeting and accounting, along with process innovation, you’ll also secure grants, loans and internal funding, whilst maintaining strong supplier relations. In addition to integrating the facility further with their Californian headquarters across all functions, including R&D, you will:
- ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory and governance requirements
- report regularly
- provide figurehead presence for peer networking and favourable interaction with government agencies, business associations and local industry
- drive organisational growth through technology development and scale up.
Calysta is an award-winning, multi-national bio-technology firm, based in California, and is primarily involved in the development of industrial processes utilising micro-organisms to convert methane into protein for seafood and livestock feed and other useful products, such as fuel and plastics. Our demonstration plant on Teesside uses methanotroph organisms to convert methane into protein currently approved for use in fish and livestock feed within the European Union.
Educated to degree level in an engineering discipline, it is essential you have a significant track record in chemical engineering, engineering project management and process development within the process (bio-)sector, with a proven track record of scaling up industrial/ chemical processes, underpinned by the strategic acumen to contribute to the overall direction of Calysta Inc. and ensure their corporate strategic aims are aligned with that of the Teesside operation. Strong on process development, project management and technology transfer, you’re able to influence decision-making within the scientific, government and business community and ensure staff attraction and retention, whilst securing and maintaining economic support and enhancing customer interaction. Your experience of managing a multi-discipline group of scientists and engineers in a project-focused environment, ideally supported by general management experience, complements:
