Risk Engineer – Refinery / Petrochemicals Business Interruption (BI) Specialist.

Downstream /Refinery Insurance Risk

City of London

£55 to £98 K PA + benefits

Our client is a major player in the global insurance sector involved in the provision of cover to large scale refinery, petrochemical and gas facilities worldwide. The company operates out of 30 countries, addressing high hazard sectors including oil and gas, power, chemicals, marine, mass transport and so on.

Our client is specifically looking for an engineer offering both substantial direct experience of refinery operational engineering (senior technical support/ production/ maintenance)and also business interruption  and consequential loss  acquired  on a major  refinery  site  with multiple, interdependent units. With a good understanding of refinery economics (scheduling, planning, margin management, LP modelling), and unplanned shutdowns, candidates will be able to analyse and advise on the identification, mitigation and management of consequential loss scenarios/risks such as those for supplier and customers relationships and production obligations . In the case of incidents/loss claims, the appointee would advise on and quantify interruption liabilities and possible work-arounds. Supporting clients throughout EMEA from London, the successful candidate  will undertake site inspections and condition surveys, review operating procedures, evaluate unit inter dependency and BI contingency  planning , undertake desktop risk assessments and produce clear, high quality reports for underwriters, clients and brokers. Foreign language skills would be welcome. Around 60 to 80 days of EMEA travel can be expected annually

Our client is not looking for dedicated safety or process design engineers at this time. Experience of refinery economics and commercial management is highly desirable for this specialist role.

Interested and suitably qualified candidates should forward a Word version of their CV and a brief covering letter to Mark Stracey at Mark Stracey Recruitment.
