Process /Engineering Manager

Our client, owned by an energy major, operates the largest onshore gas storage facility in the UK, a top tier COMAH regulated operation.The appointee will be responsible for the ongoing suitability of the plant and equipment in terms of design, construction and operation across the company’s assets, ensuring up to date and relevant engineering standards are adhered to and the safety and integrity of plant and equipment deployed.  The scope of this challenging opportunity extends to operations, maintenance, investment and the preparation, in conjunction with others, of the plants OPEX and CAPEX budget and plan with the general objective of ensuring that the plant is available, flexible, safe and optimised against immediate short term needs as well anticipating effectively the engineering needs of the future from a technical, HSE and business perspective. Specific duties will include:

Managing modifications and major projects from feasibility studies and design though to installation and commissioning via in-houses resources or contractors. Significant competence and skill in hydrocarbon design and project execution would be particularly welcome.

Multi discipline engineering technical support and trouble shooting.

Deputising for the maintenance manager in their absence and ensuring that maintenance and plant engineering programmes are adhered to and audits carried out.   

Driving reliability and availability studies to ensure maximum plant utilisation, flexibility and availability.

Liaising over  HSE management and initiates to ensure that a robust safety management system is in place and understood and that all HSE activities such as Hazops/Hazids, LOPA and DSEAR studies supporting engineering are executed correctly.

Developing company engineering standards and best practice and ensuring that all external legislative requirements and standards are met and fully complied with.

Liaison with the operations team to ensure plant faults are rectified within satisfactory period, safely, efficiently and in compliance with necessary regulations.

Candidates will need to be Chartered Chemical or Mechanical Engineers (or working towards) with extensive experience of plant development and engineering  management acquired on a top tier COMAH regulated hydrocarbons facility or similar.
