Principal Biochemical Consultant
Our client is a highly successful engineer and consultant to the pharmaceutical, biochemical, food, chemical and utility sectors. The company’s services are comprehensive, but delivered in a sector specific way using dedicated engineering teams with high levels specialist expertise in niche areas. The services include conceptual designs and master plans, detailed engineering, turnaround and shutdown management advice and on –site task force and implant assistance with improvements and upgrades. The company prides itself on the contribution it has made to making plants more flexible, profitable, effective and safe.
The current recruitment focus is highly selective. The organisation is looking for a highly accomplished biochemical engineer at principal /staff consultant level with a proven track record in the design and specification of up and downstream GMP/FDA regulated biochemical systems in addition to other demonstrable business and organisational skills. In a leadership role reporting into a director , the job holder should offer significant technical competence within biological and sterile pharmaceutical operations and engineering, the ability to interact effectively with client teams in pre and post contract discussions and in the development of bids , a readiness and competence in developing new business opportunities through contacts and networking in conjunction with sales, and will instruct and advise internally on industry specific business trends, and so on.
As a subject area authority within the company, the incumbent will be expected to be highly conversant with the process systems, unit operations, equipment and technology and clean utilities associated with a wide variety of biochemical manufacturing processes entailing living organisms including bacteria, yeasts, mould mammalian cells, viruses and transgenic .Detailed knowledge of the following sectors is expected :
- Monoclonal antibodies
- Regenerative medicine
Additionally the successful candidate will enjoy a high degree of familiarity with compliance issues and codes, including those for biological containment, GMP and FDA, which will guide and inform the design and construction strategies and choices made in projects under their control.
