The Company

Nexeon is a material science company and we?re developing novel silicon materials for the next generation of lithium ion batteries.? We?ve recently been awarded a multi-million pound Innovate UK grant for one of our research programmes and are now looking for a number of high calibre scientists and engineers to join us and work on that project.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
This is a hands on laboratory or pilot plant based role which will be involved in the synthesis of carbon and silicon composite materials.? Although this is a chemical engineering role, it will be based in a development team, working with scientists as part of our strategy of developing new material concepts and production processes in tandem.
Application Criteria:

The candidate will have a first degree in Chemical Engineering (or a relevant and related field) together with a higher degree and/or relevant industrial experience.
Technical experience will include some or all of the following:

synthesis of carbon and silicon composite materials, especially powders, including exposure to pilot or production scale manufacture;
designing structured experiments and analysis utilising statistical methodologies;
chemical processes related to silicon and/or carbon e. g.

fabrication of porous silicon and carbon materials;
deposition of silicon from donor materials (e. g. chemical vapour deposition, or CVD);
properties, fabrication and chemical behaviour of silicon and carbon particles and structures at nano-scale;
etching using chemical and other methods;
mechanical and heat processes for processing silicon and carbon; fabrication and chemical behaviour of silicon alloys

This position is most likely to be suitable for a Senior Chemical Engineer level candidate with significant industrial experience.? More junior candidates with highly relevant experience and/or a strong track record of achievement in a relevant field are also encouraged to apply.
