Superb opportunity for a hands-on Chemical Engineer with the drive and ambition to take control of complete projects from initial enquiry and proposal through to design, installation and commissioning, turning energy-saving ideas into practical and commercially viable outcomes.

The Position:

This is a pivotal appointment for a successful business at an exciting stage of its evolution. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will play an instrumental part in shaping the company’s ongoing expansion, both operationally and strategically. Initial responsibilities will principally include:

Managing the day-to-day activity of the contracts department, leading weekly contract review meetings and providing senior management with weekly progress reports
Receiving enquiries from the sales team to design and quote these back to consultant, contractor and end user clients
Defining the application, visiting the client, obtaining input data and formulating the best design, including drafting and costing
Presenting proposals to clients in collaboration with the sales team
Assisting the senior management team in the research, evaluation, development and market analysis of new projects
Ensuring that all secured contracts are technically correct to ensure that the right equipment is in the right place at the right time and the right price
Involvement in identifying efficiency gains in production, HAZOPs, product improvement, SOPs, quality control and ISO compliance

The Candidate:

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

A minimum bachelor’s degree qualification in chemical engineering
(Ideally) membership of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE)
A minimum of five years’ experience in the chemical and/or industrial process sectors
Specific project engineering experience encompassing applications, proposals, design, installation and commissioning
Proficiency in the use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
‘Can Do’ leadership qualities and a persuasive/engaging interpersonal style
The ambition and entrepreneurial spirit to succeed and advance within the business to the level of Departmental Head
