Plant, Power and Utilities Risk engineer
Our client is a major player in the international insurance sector where it is involved in both facilitating cover for a wide range of high hazard sites and activities including oil and gas production, refining and petrochemicals, shipping, marine infrastructure, power generation and utilities and assisting operating companies in mitigating and managing their insurance obligations and risks.
The organisation’s UAE office is enjoying exceptional levels of growth supporting EMEA and is now looking for an additional mechanical, chemical or electrical engineer with a significant understanding of operational risk acquired within the downstream plant and utilities sectors probably as a senior production, integrity, technical support or maintenance engineer for a major operating company. Exposure to power generation and utilities associated with major hydrocarbon, refinery or chemical plant would be particularly welcome
This is a generalist role focusing on plant and equipment physical condition and integrity surveys, the assessment of operating and maintenance practices and standards, the generation of equipment and building replacement cost estimates, the production of desk –top risk assessments and the generation of lucid, coherent reports for the benefit of clients, brokers and carriers. Candidates will ideally have a detailed understanding of plant reliability and integrity issues associated with major equipment items such as vessels, columns, pumps, tankage, turbines, diesel generators and so on in addition to a broader appreciation of maintenance issues and drivers such as ARM and shutdowns / turnarounds. In depth knowledge of turbines and the breakdown and maintenance characteristics of specific manufactures turbine products would be particularly welcome.
About 80 days travel annually can be expected throughout EMEA .The position will be awarded on a generous tax free, local basis. The remunerating package above includes an allowance for accommodation. Foreign language skills would be welcome but are not essential .Our client is looking for substantial experience of COMAH regulated production plant or power operations and is not seeking design engineering candidates at this stage.
