Job Summary

The Pipeline and Process Engineering Group in La Jolla, CA is actively seeking a talented Chemical Engineer to execute engineering and design work and project management associated with pipeline, chemical process, and other oil & gas related projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing engineering calculations and design and related studies

  • Preparing specifications, reports, and data tables

  • Project management of small and medium size projects

  • Keeping the supervising engineer advised as to status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems

  • Assuring quality, quantity, and completeness of the engineering tasks assigned

  • Conducting periodic site visits and supporting start-up operations

  • Maintaining proper engineering files and records

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • 10+ years' experience

  • PE Registration

  • Experience in pipeline or oil & gas engineering, design, and construction

  • Experience should include work on natural gas pipeline, compressor stations, meter stations, oil & gas production facilities, terminals, refineries, or other oil & gas facilities

  • Must have knowledge of engineering and design practices related to light process design, process equipment specification and evaluation, piping hydraulics, and design

  • Process equipment engineering and specification would include compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, storage tanks, filters, and pressure vessels

  • Must be able to perform engineering and light process calculations under the direction of senior engineers

  • Must have strong writing skills and be able to write clear and accurate technical reports and specifications

  • Must be proficient with MS Office programs, including Excel

  • Experience in the O&G, pipeline, and/or chemical process industry

  • Experience with preparation of PFDs, P&IDs, and piping drawings/isometrics

  • Experience in Hysis and/or Aspen process simulation software, typically applied to the development of material balances and complex hydraulics

  • Experience in the preparation of equipment data sheets and specifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and client interactions

  • Reliable and dependable in meeting project schedule and budget requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation

  • Estimate hours required to complete engineering work in support of proposal efforts

  • Familiarity with major equipment typically used in the related industries

  • Proven project management and client communication experience

  • Occasionally requires travel to client facilities within the region and need to access congested/elevated piping and equipment areas

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required
