Our client is a diversified international food, ingredients and retail group with sales of £13.4bn, 130,000 employees and operations in 50 countries across Europe, southern Africa, the Americas, Asia and Australasia. Aside from food and drink, our client’s products are used in animal feed, soil conditioners, electricity, bioethanol and seed enhancements where they feature in a wide variety of industry sectors including food and drink, pharmaceutical, industrial, agriculture, power and energy.

This is an exceptional opportunity to deliver projects and roll-out programmes and carry out investigations touching our clients various international businesses and operating sites. The successful candidate will provide support to the Operations and Technology leadership team to deliver an agenda and implementation strategies aimed at elevating operational practice, innovation and development across subsidiary businesses around the globe.

 Key responsibilities: ·

  •  Support operations teams by working on projects which include internal and external manufacturing best practice benchmarking activity. Investigation of relevant alternative production technologies and specifically “Green belt” continuous improvement projects.
  •  Implementation of the sustainability strategy (carbon footprint, energy consumption and     recyclability).
  • Co-ordinate and manage the organisations health and Safety team and the Food Safety Communities of Practice.
  • Consolidation of business performance reporting requirements for the Group Leadership Team (requiring strong excel skills).
  •  Support the development of the Operating Forum widening its reach to a relevant population in each business.
  •  Horizon scanning and relationship building with key tertiary institutions/universities within the UK.

Our client is looking for exceptional candidates with a compelling profile that will include:

  • A strong first degree (or equivalent) in chemical engineering) from a premier educational institution.
  • Experience of working in a large “blue chip” manufacturing company (food, pharmaceutical, oil, chemicals etc.).   
  • Proven leadership and management  skills
  • A positive view on travel
  • Prepared to work in /relocate to Cambridgeshire 
  • Strong presentation and influencing skills
  • A track record in manufacturing management and   optimisation and improvement
