Principal /lead Consultant – Refining

Our client, a prestigious, independent, employee - owned, prestigious consultancy, has provided advisory services to the mid and downstream energy industry for over 25 years. Trusted to provide credible and impartial expertise addressing the technical, commercial, financial, legal and regulatory issues that confront the industry worldwide, the business operates out of several global energy hubs in Asia, Europe and the Americas. The organisation works closely with banks, investors, technology and engineering services providers, legal teams, government agencies and regulators, integrated energy companies and specialist refiners.
Consultants are expected to be proficient in a number of different areas; however specific assignments are typically staffed by a team of professionals drawing on specific individual expertise to complete analyses required by the client. Such assignments may include the following mix of client economic, commercial, legal and technical support
- Crude oil and feedstock analysis/valuation * Replacement/ liability valuations
- Product blending/optimization * Expert witness provision in disputes /arbitration
- Benchmarking of Key Performance Indicators * Asset and technology valuations
- Economics and Planning Support * M+A & due diligence
- LP development and/or maintenance * Logistics and transportation studies
This is a senior appointment for a highly motivated , committed professional capable of winning , managing and executing major client projects/assignments The successful candidate will be expected to take on responsibilities for new business generation through relationship management with both new and existing client firms. Experienced consultants will be expected to contribute to growth in our client’s client base by developing and supporting new relationships and participating in marketing efforts including making client visits to foster business relationships, attending industry functions and meetings, and presenting papers at various industry conferences.
The ideal candidate is likely to have significant skills and competences based on substantial direct experience in the refining sector that includes exposure to refinery unit operations, economics and planning, and will generally offer strong refinery business insight. In addition to a Bachelors or Master’s degree ( or equivalent), possibly supported by an MBA, the successful candidate must be an excellent communicator, equally proficient and experienced with the development and presentation of both oral and written analysis results, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrable expertise with optimization and development of financial models; will exhibit excellent collaborative and organizational skills; and must be self-directed with a strong entrepreneurial mind-set. Candidates must currently be eligible to work in the UK and be ready to undertake reasonable international travel within EMEA
