Risk Engineer - Energy and Chemicals
Our client is a global insurance player enjoying a truly worldwide presence and significant market share within the high hazard sector. The business provides significant support to the onshore energy, power, utility and chemicals segments in EMEA from London where further strengthening of the team on the back of growing client demand is required. The job holder will generally assist underwriting and claims teams by identifying risks and by providing detailed technical insight into the nature of risks as well as recommendations to clients on how risks might be mitigated. Candidates will have significant experience of large scale downstream plant operations such as refineries, petrochemical and LNG facilities, power and utility units and the operational risk and business interruption issues associated with them. The appointees will conduct site based physical condition surveys, investigate and analyse production and maintenance practices , produce desk top risk assessments, review and comment on third-party technical submissions and produce lucid reports for internal and external parties. The role will suit a degree qualified (or equivalent) chemical engineer with substantial experience of the refinery and petrochemical sector that includes start-ups, operations, technical support, maintenance and production, etc. Around 80 days EMEA travel can be expected annually.
