The IChemE Safety Centre (ISC) works to advance process safety across a wide range of process industries, exchanging knowledge and good practice and leading collaborative work among its member companies and organisations. The ISC is based in our Melbourne, Australia office, but as a result of successful global extension of its work additional resources are needed to manage activities in other regions.
IChemE is looking for a deputy to the director to lead the IChemE Safety Centre on a day to day basis in the UK, Europe, Africa and Middle East regions. The successful candidate will drive the ISC process safety technical agenda and associated work programmes; securing the engagement and continued support of further sponsoring organisations, whilst driving revenue generation via ISC membership and diversification of our CPD, training, conference and publications portfolio in this area in order to fund and expand our process safety work.
Ideally you will have a chemical engineering degree and be a recognised process safety practitioner with management experience in site level accident and hazard risk in the process industries. You will also have experience of leading, managing and influencing others and be an excellent communicator at all levels.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Supporting members in the specified regions, working with IChemE and member company staff to define, plan and implement agreed process safety work programmes.
- Managing the ISC working groups to ensure they deliver outcomes in a timely manner, as well as managing external specialist resources as part of delivering activities where required.
- Contributing to the forward planning and strategy for the ISC.
- Acting as an internal specialist and advocate for process safety related issues.
- Promoting process safety products and services.
IChemE’s international nature means that this position requires a willingness to work flexibly and to engage in business discussions outside normal working hours. The position is based at our Rugby, UK office. Some travel will be required within the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
This is a full-time role based on 37.5 hours per week but the successful candidate must be willing to work flexibly.
