FIELD PROCESS ENGINEER (SEMICONDUCTORS)

BASED NEWPORT SOUTH WALES – SALARY EXCELLENT AND NEGOTIABLE

Based in Newport South Wales, Edgar Stewart’s client is a well known and highly respected global semiconductor OEM business.  They supply equipment to clients on a global basis, and are at the forefront of technology design for Etching and PVD/Deposition equipment and wafer processing.  With a range of technologies on the market and a steady flow of R+D work in progress, they now need to make the key hire of a Field Process Engineer.

Reporting into the European Customer Support Director, the Field Process Engineer will be working as part of an existing product support team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for providing field based customer process support of Chemical Vapour Deposition, Physical Vapour Deposition and Etch products throughout Europe with occasional travel to USA and Asia.  This will involve managing projects at customer sites to include new technology insertions, tool and technology insertions, tool acceptance and joint development projects.

Additional responsibilities will include documenting ‘best known’ methods and processes,  carrying out process training at customer sites, identifying and qualifying technology needs, whilst also actively communicating with product support and the business units as required.  This position will involve international travel.  Core responsibilities will include:

  • Together with the field team obtaining filed acceptance on customer’s sites.
  • Providing answers to questions from the customer.  Visiting the customer to progress the opportunity through discussion and presentation.
  • Developing contacts at customers, suppliers, analysts etc that can be used as sources of market or competitor intelligence.
  • Suggesting potential upgrade opportunities.  Identifying weaknesses in the product based on customer needs

Candidates must be educated to at least degree calibre, and have prior semiconductor process experience.  We would be especially keen to hear from candidates with knowledge of CVD, PVD, Thin-Film, Deposition or Dry Etch products, processes and technologies. Previous experience of direct interaction with customers would also be advantageous.  We will also consider candidates from optoelectronics, Nano and MEMS technology backgrounds and potentially solar/photovoltaics.

This is a superb opportunity to join a highly regarded UK semiconductor business at the forefront of new product and technology development.  An excellent base salary tailored to your experience, is accentuated by a comprehensive benefits package including company bonus, pension and healthcare.
